It’s a Knockout challenge in St Albans

BRAVE contestants will be leaping into gunge pits and grappling with huge inflatables in an It’s A Knockout challenge in St Albans later this month.

Hosted by children’s television presenter Jamie Rickers, the event, which has nearly 20 teams of ten entered already, will raise money for the National Association for Colitis and Chrohn’s disease and other charities.

Publicist Anna Rowntree said: “The hilarious games will include wet and slippery slides, bubble pools, and penguin races.

“Will a team of contestants from BBC 1’s Total Wipeout show be beaten? Armed with individual mascots, cheerleaders and fancy dress, other teams will compete against each other for knockout glory.”

Although the event on Sunday, July 25, at Old Albanians sports ground off Harpenden Road is almost full, entries are welcome on the day from teams of children, who can compete free.  Spectators are welcome from 11am to 4pm.

In order to raise money for MNDA (the Motor Neurone Disease Association), teams of Lifeguards, Youth Workers and ‘Sexy Rock Chicks’ from Beverley Leisure Centre pitched battle with each other, while the children that attended ensured everyone enjoyed a thorough soaking with water bombs and buckets.  The afternoon concluded with a water fight between the Youth Workers and the children – with the children winning hands down!

Hopefully, once all the money is in, £663 will have been raised. Thanks to all who contributed.
